Vigo returns to its winter state
We had a sometimes-chilly sometimes-balmy break from the famous Galician rainy winter over last month. But on Thursday Vigo was to true form with the return of rain and the addition of wind. Vigans (yes, goofy me, I giggle at the double meaning here, especially since the cuisine is so meat heavy), are clearly very accustomed to the rain. It doesn’t slow them down and as soon as the drizzle starts, the umbrellas magically appear from somewhere (not sure where they have been hiding them under their stylish clothes) but out the umbrellas pop and on they go. But the wind throws a kink in that plan, dangerously bending umbrellas, threatening to blow them away, and outright snapping them. The sight becomes struggling, soggy-yet-still-stylish Vigans and sad, broken umbrellas poking out of every garbage bin.
