It's Raining, It's Pouring...

I had read several times that it rains a lot in Galicia. It is gorgeous with all the lush plant growth, and a lack of regular, large wildfires and drought are a nice bonus. So I figured with our affinity for the outdoors and nature school prep, we would would be just fine. But I didn't know it would rain hard for 33 days straight in October and November. It did get old, that much rain for that long, and we are hoping that we will get more breaks with clear weather to break up the rain for the rest of the winter. No one here lets it get in their way though, they just go about their business as usual with an umbrella.  As the saying goes, when in Rome...we bought umbrellas and got to it like everyone else, wet shoes and all.  I have never liked umbrellas much, but I have come to love them here.

Interestingly, many people air dry their clothes here, but that doesn't work very well with all the rain and humidity. We are feeling pretty lucky to live next door to a laundromat where we can take our clothes to dry.  We even have an app to let us know when the dryers are available...works like a charm!

Only 2.25" in the next 24 hours.
Walking to Galician fiddle class.
Heading around town with friends and umbrellas.

If you have a concert planned and it is pouring, just add a tent and continue the party!

Lots of memes about the rain popped up, this one is about swimming the famous pilgrimage route, the Walk of St. James aka the Camino de Santiago.

This is how everyone felt when the rain finally broke.
The result of all this rain, the lush countryside.
